Check out Offbeat Expedition, our micro-worship experiences!
Membership in Infinitus Community means several things:
One's commitment to be part of a dynamic and growing spiritual community through sharing its visions, values, and common beliefs.
One's profession of their faith and joining in a community of mutual aid and accountability.
One's willingness to become an active participant in Infinitus Community.
Becoming a member is a step up from being an informal participant in our activities, online or in-person. Being a member of our Matrix, Signal, or SimpleX group does not make you a member of Infinitus Community (nor does it obligate you to become one). Being a participant in Offbeat Expedition does not automatically make you a member of the community, either. It requires additional, affirmative steps to be a full-fledged member of this community.
It is equally important to understand that, while we have a membership covenant and formal entry of new members, we do not maintain a formal "membership roll" that imposes obligations and grants rights under law. A church membership covenant is unlike a business contract under secular law.
The details here are still being worked on. A provisional procedure for membership admission will be published here by the end of January 2026.
In order to keep our community authentic and safe from bad actors who seek harm to our community and its members, we verify the identity of all prospective members.
The easiest and recommended method of doing so is through the free Yoti digital ID app.
Yoti allows us to quickly verify your identity in the least intrusive manner, while preserving your privacy and data security. Yoti is available nearly everywhere on Earth. Oregon and Washington residents can use their Oregon Department of Transportation DMV Services or Washington State Department of Licensing driver's licenses and identification cards (you do this only once with your Yoti app when setting it up; we will not see or need to see your DL/ID). You can also use a passport (but not a U.S. passport card) from just about any country (again, we will not see or need to see your passport).
We only ask prospective members to "share" from their Yoti app the following: photo, name, date of birth (members must be at least 18 years old), and email address.
Verification can be done online or in person using this app. We hope this step balances our need for community integrity and your privacy, while positioning ourselves as an inclusive and welcoming family of faith. By using Yoti, it also reduces our liability exposures, since we won't need to process or retain sensitive data ourselves (for example, scans or pictures of your ID, and extraneous pieces of information that we don't need, such as your ID number, your address, or your gender). You should also know that, once Yoti verifies the validity of your identity document and your facial biometric, that data is kept on your device (and optionally, backed up on your Google Drive or iCloud -- this is highly recommended) as an encrypted file and only you can unlock and access it.
Note 1: If you usually go by a name different from what is on your ID, or if your "deadname" is still on your ID, please advise us of the fact. Once the verification is done, we will not retain or record your deadname except for its first letter.
Note 2: If you have difficulty obtaining a state ID or driver's license due to financial hardship, lack of residential address, immigration status, or any other reasons, or if you do not own a smartphone that is compatible with the app, please let us know so we can arrange for an alternate method of verification. Unfortunately, Yoti does not yet recognize matriculas consulares (e.g., Mexico and Guatemala) or city-issued ID cards (e.g., San Francisco). It is worth noting here, however, that Yoti accepts national ID cards (cedulas, DNI, etc.) and driver's licenses from almost all countries on the planet, as long as they are valid.
Note 3: If the app gives you a hard time with initial setup (facial recognition) and adding your ID, try doing it outdoors on a partly cloudy to a sunny day. It appears that the app is really finicky when you do this indoors.
(This service is provided in the U.S. and Canada by Yoti (U.S.A.), Inc., of San Francisco, California. We are not affiliated with the company in any way, but we've found this to be the best off-the-shelf solution that is accessible and easy to use.)
